The lens (optic) that the camera looks thru plays an important role in the picture that you see on the monitor. The camera lens determines how much area the camera covers, how clearly you can see details (especially in the distance), and how much light enters the camera. A few factors to consider when buying a CCTV camera lens are Field of View, Focal Length and Lens Iris.
